
Merissa Coleman
Music
Merissa Coleman is a music performer, instructor, and director. She is a vocalist with "Singers Companye", as well as a teacher for their program for young singers.
In addition, Merissa teaches music in schools, private lessons and for camps and performing arts workshops. She has also served as a music director for various ensembles and church music programs, currently serving as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist at Church of the Western Reserve in Pepper Pike, Ohio. As a soprano chorister and soloist in numerous ensembles, Merissa has performed several times at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and in multiple European tours and competitions. Recently she completed a concert tour in Ireland as a vocal soloist and percussionist.
Merissa has had the privilege of singing in concerts with the Cleveland Orchestra and the Akron Symphony Orchestra. She has been a cast member in many staged productions, including the opera Porgy and Bess, South Pacific, West Side Story, and the world premiere of the musical Tuning In at E.J. Thomas Hall. Merissa is also a co-producer, director, and auxiliary percussionist for The Cabaret Project that is performed annually at Blu Jazz +. She completed a BM in Vocal Performance and MM in Choral conducting at The University of Akron.
Unbelievably, Merissa can sing at frequencies only audible to canines. She also really likes cherry-flavored things.
